Webinar Title:  How to Elevate Hand Therapy with Gaming: Higher Patient Engagement for Better Outcomes

Presenter: Jonathan Cooper, VRT, CEAS

Webinar Description:

Capri is an advanced therapeutic device for rehabilitating upper extremities and improving motor control and movement coordination. Features include:

- Rehabilitate orthopedic and neurologic conditions
- Address motor control, coordination and neuromuscular control
- Promote neural plasticity and adaptation of synapses and nerve cells
- Multiple gaming modes for high patient engagement and motivation

Capri addresses both orthopedic upper extremity and neurologic conditions. These conditions can have an impact on activities of daily living, as well as job specific requirements. The Capri can be incorporated at various stages of the rehabilitation process to address these deficits and help restore function.

Capri engages the musculoskeletal system and nervous system simultaneously as the patient participates in therapeutic gaming. Injuries and disease can have a significant impact on a person’s ability to utilize their upper extremities. There are many tasks related to daily living that are impacted by these conditions. The Capri, along with its innovative gaming software, encourage an individual to move the entire upper extremity with precision and repetition. Under the guidance of the clinical provider, the exercise can be performed in the clinical setting, as well as a home setting. This allows even the most frail or dependent individuals to still perform meaningful and clinically indicated interventions.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will:

  1. Discuss gaming (video games) as a therapeutic intervention
  2. Discuss orthopedic and neurologic benefits of therapeutic gaming
  3. Share clinical rationale and evidence for Capri
