Webinar Title: Brachial Plexus Irritation Associated with Scapular Pathomechanics and Instability
Presenter:
Mike Cricchio, MBA, OT/L, CHT
Webinar Description:
A one-hour dive into the importance of considering the influence of scapular instability on brachial plexus irritation. This course will briefly review the nomenclature, organization and anatomy of the brachial plexus. An opening case will highlight the value of understanding shoulder muscular anatomy and its potential influence on neurologic presentation and pathology. The body of the presentation will detail normal and abnormal scapula position, the relationship to brachial plexus irritation sites, and present treatment methods to correct abnormal scapula positions and alleviate and/or prevent brachial plexus irritation.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will:
- Identify nomenclature, organization and anatomy of the brachial plexus
- Understand the value of shoulder muscular anatomy and its potential influence on neurologic presentation and pathology
- Identify nomenclature and definitions associated with brachial plexus irritation, scapular pathomechanics and scapular instability
- Understand normal and abnormal scapula position
- Identify probable brachial plexus irritation sites as consequence of abnormal scapula position
- Create treatment plans to correct abnormal scapula positions in an effort to alleviate and/or prevent brachial plexus irritation
