Webinar description:
The incidence of rotator cuff tears is estimated to affect up to 32% of the population and is estimated to increase up to 80% in individuals over 70 years of age. The causes of rotator cuff tears are multifactorial, including 1) intrinsic mechanisms related to degenerative vascularity changes, and 2) extrinsic mechanisms related to muscular imbalances and postural changes. This course provides current concepts for rehabilitation progressions following post-surgical rotator cuff repairs. Therapists attending this seminar will be able to prepare, modify and customize safe rehabilitation programs based on scientific rationale and individual patient characteristics. Therapists are expected to gain fresh ideas for exercises and clinical activities.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize intrinsic and extrinsic mechanisms that contribute to rotator cuff tendinopathy.
  2. Apply a scientific rationale to progress rehabilitation programming following a rotator cuff repair.
  3. Apply modifications to rehabilitation progressions based on individual patient characteristics.
  4. Design exercise programming based on evidence-based concepts.
  5. Gain an understanding of contraindications following healing stages post-op rotator cuff repairs.
