2020 Call for Sessions
The ASHT 2020 Annual Meeting Committee invites you to submit proposals for instructional courses and Pre-Conference Institute courses for our 43rd Annual Meeting. A submission site has been created to accept submissions for Pre-Conference Institutes and Instructional Courses to be presented at the meeting in San Antonio, TX, October 1–4, 2020. Submissions will be accepted from November 25, 2019 through January 6, 2020.
IGNITE THE LEADER WITHIN: COLLABORATE | INNOVATE | ADVOCATE
The Annual Meeting Committee selected this theme to emphasize that we are all leaders. Ignite the leader within will enable us to collaborate, innovate and advocate on behalf of our specialty practice, education, research and, most importantly, our patients. The 2020 meeting will be co-located with the American Society for Surgery of the Hand's Annual Meeting, which will enable increased collaboration and knowledge sharing from our physician colleagues. During this meeting we want to give participants the tools to achieve evidenced-based outcomes through enhanced leadership skills, emerging research and experience.
As you prepare your submission, please consider the meeting theme and associated objectives.
- Hand and upper extremity therapy research papers and presentations demonstrating that patients' overall function and satisfaction improve with our services.
- As legislators continually debate healthcare reform, we need to ensure that both occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) are considered essential services.
- The Annual Meeting Committee welcomes proposals that represent the diversity of hand and upper extremity therapy services offered to all patient populations and varying practice settings.
In keeping with the theme of the 2020 meeting and based on feedback surveys to the membership, the Annual Meeting Committee suggests that some or all of the following themes be evident in your proposal:
- Create engaging and innovative strategies to meet optimal patient outcomes
- Clinical pearls to advance excellence in daily practice skills
- Evidence-informed content for the novice and experienced hand and upper extremity therapist
- Program content to facilitate improved patient outcomes through inter-professional collaboration, inclusive of surgeon/therapist, legislative collaboration, etc.
- Addressing prevention and wellness strategies and programs to address the overall needs of hand and upper extremity therapy patients across diverse settings
- Empowering hand and upper extremity therapists to collaborate with their patients to participate in meaningful interventions to meet occupational goals
- Branding the high standard and value of hand therapy and the certified hand therapists (CHT) credential
The Annual Meeting Committee will review all submissions and inform you of our decision no later than early March 2020.
Please note that those who submit content and are chosen to present at the Annual Meeting are responsible for their own meeting registration and all meeting-related travel expenses.
Thank you for your willingness to contribute to the 2020 ASHT Annual Meeting. If you have any questions, please contact ASHT meeting staff at tcheck@asht.org.
