If you want to stay current with the latest evidence-based clinical information, ASHT's Journal Club is a great place to be!
All ASHT members have free access to the Journal of Hand Therapy and our monthly Journal Club. The chats promote a greater understanding of the research and develop critical appraisal skills to support a sound application of the evidence. Each chat concludes with the question "Will this change your practice? Why or why not, and how?" Discussing the relevance and implications of each study empowers the participants to apply the evidence to their current practice.
The use of a chatroom gives each member the opportunity to be actively engaged in the discussion. It is a fun and unintimidating way to participate. All levels are welcome to attend the chats, and we have had everyone from novices to article authors join. This mixture serves to strengthen our community's grasp of the evidence available and provides a productive learning environment.
Journal Club is a great member benefit. Members earn one free continuing education hour for participating in each one-hour Journal Club chat. More importantly, each participant is encouraged to engage in reviewing and analyzing the research, serving to strengthen our profession's ability to offer evidence-informed, and best practice, therapy to our patients. I hope to "see" you on our next chat!
Journal Club is typically held the last Monday of each month at 9 p.m. ET. For a full schedule and list of upcoming articles, please visit the ASHT Journal Club page.
