Planning is well underway for the 41st Annual Meeting to be held September 20-23, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Last week, the proposal submission site for Pre-Conference Institutes and instructional courses was launched and will remain open until January 15, 2018. You can access the submission here.
While the 2018 Annual Meeting Committee is in the early stages of planning, we are thrilled to announce that both Elisabet Hagert, MD, PhD, and Marc Garcia-Elias, MD, PhD, have accepted invitations to be our keynote speakers. You can be sure that therapeutic interventions for wrist instability will be discussed in a collaborative and interprofessional manner. You will not want to miss this content and the opportunity to network and learn with your hand therapy colleagues.
As you consider topics for your proposal, please keep the meeting theme in mind: “Hand Therapist: The Key to Optimizing Patient Outcomes.” The 2018 ASHT Annual Meeting Committee chose this theme to demonstrate that hand therapy matters. Hand therapists and other healthcare professionals who are closely aligned with hand therapists know that our work contributes greatly to improve patient outcomes. During this meeting, we want to give participants the education and tools to demonstrate this to all stakeholders in the healthcare environment. This includes, but is not limited to, patients, referral sources, payers, administrators and legislators. Additional meeting objectives and threads may be in the submission site.
This will be the first time ASHT has held its Annual Meeting in Dallas, and ASHT has not held a meeting in the great state of Texas since 2005. The 2018 Annual Meeting Committee has adopted the motto, “go big or go home.” Due to the central location of the 2018 meeting, we are hoping for a large gathering of speakers, participants and exhibitors collaborating and networking to demonstrate that hand therapy matters!
