As the near year approaches, resolutions are being made about how to improve in 2020. Have you made a resolution for what you want to learn in 2020? ASHT has a lot of offerings that will help you plan your continuing education and help focus your intention on how you want to grow as a hand therapist this year.
One goal may be to improve your orthosis fabrication skills! Hands on Orthotics is a course that can come to you and you personalize it to your site’s needs. ASHT will send an experienced instructor, course manuals, and material and you can spend the day improving skills essential to a hand therapist.
Another goal may be to take the CHT Exam! The Hand Therapy Review Course is offered in Irvine, CA (February), St. Louis, MO (April), Atlanta, GA (August) and Baltimore, MD (October). Plan the course based on destination or based on timing prior to the May and November exam dates.
Maybe 2020 is the year you begin a career in hand therapy! Check out our new web page dedicated to Resources for Novice Hand Therapists. One continuing education course that will help meet that goal is our Foundations traveling course. This course surveys topics relevant to proficiency in hand therapy and is offered in different areas of the country throughout the year.
If your goal is to continue your education but the year is looking very busy, check out the webinar offerings! A variety of surgeon and hand therapy webinars are in the video library and we have some new live offerings in 2020. These can be completed in the convenience of your own home at any time of day so they can be worked into the busy practitioner’s schedule.
Finally, your goal may be to complete all your hours in one place and also network with passionate colleagues. We will plan on seeing you in San Antonio in October for ASHT's Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held October 1-4, 2020 and is dedicated to igniting our profession to collaborate, innovate and advocate.
Happy holidays and happy new year to everyone!
